Today is the memorial for St. Angela Merici, a fellow Secular Franciscan who lived from 1470(?) to 1540, who founded “the first teaching congregation of women in the Church [the Ursuline Order] and what is now called a “secular institute” of religious women.” You can read about her life at AmericanCatholic.org.
